Israel

2012-2015

In collaboration with Arch. Adi Har-Noy

In 2012 Israel Railways initiated an inventory of the railway system, from the late 19th century Hedjaz Line to the 1960’s Shore Line. This inventory developed into an IRC Conservation Policy Document which surveys, identifies, characterizes, and prioritizes historic railway stock, assesses the impacts of future development, and proposed a comprehensive heritage management plan.

The whole-system policy document was supplemented by the preparation of a Conservation Policy Document for the Haifa-Kantara Line (2014), and for the Jaffa-Jerusalem Line and the Shore Line (2015). These policy documents inform Israel Railways in the decision-making process of developing railway infrastructure, providing for the protection and conservation of built heritage and historic components which best manifest the values of the historic railway.
